CCISD's South Belt Schools Clear Creek Independent School District was formed in 1948 through consolidation of the schools in League City, Seabrook, Webster and Kemah. At the time the schools were unified, there were fewer than 1,000 students in four schools. In 2003, the district enrollment was more than 31,500 students in 34 schools. CCISD also includes parts of Friendswood and Houston. All indicators point to a continuing population increase in the school district well into the future. CCISD is home to the NASA/ Johnson Space Center; the numerous engineering and technical organizations which support the space industry; the fishing and recreational areas of Galveston Bay; the chemical and energy resource industries; the University of Houston-Clear Lake; and the many businesses which serve a diverse suburban population. Parent and community interest and support strengthen the school program. Approximately 36 percent of the faculty members have at least a masters degree. Student test scores are routinely above average. CCISD earned a recognized status in 2002-2003 for the seventh consecutive year from the Texas Education Agency Accountability Ratings system.
