Southeast Volunteer Fire Department

The Southeast Volunteer Fire Department has been serving the South Belt unincorporated area 36 years. SVFD is currently averaging 1,200 calls a year for the combined fire and ambulance calls. The group has a paid crew which works 5 days a week from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Approximately 37 volunteers are currently involved with SVFD.

SVFD has two locations, San Jacinto College South and Hughes Road in Sagemeadow. SVFD’s equipment consists of 2 ambulances, 2 fire engines, a rescue truck, a 4-wheel drive booster for grass fires and two officer vehicles. To volunteer to join SVFD call 281-485-7576. Meetings are held 7 pm. every Thursday at the Hughes road station. The SVFD is in the process of planning a new station to be located on Scarsdale. The department has 3 Class A Pumpers and 2 ALS Ambulances.

South Belt Security Alliance

The South Belt Security Alliance was organized to give additional security surveillance to the South Belt area. It is contracted through Constable Gary Freeman’s office. Security officers patrol the area daily, making approximately 2500 calls a year. The alliance is funded by volunteer donations through various means including donations on Municipal Utility District (water) bills. For information contact Chris Clark at 281-464-0018.
